The Full Moon Party is an all-night beach party that originated in Haad Rin on the island of Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand on the night of, before, or after every full moon. Tourists mostly attend it.
The first Full Moon Party was improvised at a Paradise Bungalows on the beach in 1988, to give thanks to about 20–30 travellers. The parties gained fame through word of mouth, and the event now draws a crowd of about 5,000–30,000 every whole moon evening. The party carries on until the sun rises the next day. The bars on the sunrise beach of Haad Rin town stay open and play music such as psychedelic trance, R&B, drum, bass, house, dance, and reggae. The modern event has become a part of the itinerary of many travellers to Southeast Asia.

Short brief. Many legendary stories of the infamous Full Moon Party, and I was NOT going to miss it when I made plans to travel to Thailand! The massive party takes place on a stretch of beach on Koh Pha Ngan (Koh Phangan) island in Thailand. Each month, on the night of the full moon, thousands of people come worldwide to partake in the festivities and dance all night long. Once we were covered in paint, we made our way to the beach to get amongst the “wild & crazy.” party!!! The beach was packed with people from all over the world, fire dancers, drink bucket stands, and dance stages. All along the coast, there are vendor stands selling these little plastic buckets made into giant cocktails with about many straws in them to share! They’re about 350 baht Helpful Tip: Plan on wearing sneakers, so you aren’t barefoot on the beach. While there isn’t really any glass being served, you still want to be careful not to step on anything that would hurt you. In addition to all the festivities, there were giant jump ropes lit on fire that five people could jump over at the same time, twirling fireballs on ropes, and people spinning fire poles.
Traveling by speedboat can be fast and fun but also bumpy. We do not recommend it for women who are heavily pregnant or if you have a bad lower back. The speedboat company for this tour is ‘Mr. Tu Speedboat’.
